Disperse: Art Ramble by Helen Duncan

10/2/26 to 11/13/26 12:00 pm
Umbrella Arts Disperse: Art Ramble by Helen Duncan
40 Stow Street
Concord, MA
United States
Contact: Claire Bellanger

This year’s Art Ramble features work by multi-media artist Helen Duncan. Duncan’s porcelain clay and wire forms are dispersed along the Fairyland Pond Trail in the Hapgood Wright Town Forest, right off of Concord Center. Duncan's delicate dandelion-esque pieces come alive on the trail, responding to their environment by shifting with the breeze and reflecting sunlight. Through these exchanges, as well as our own impact on the work, we are asked to examine how the varied elements of the world around us may interact with each other.

It’s Fall - time to venture out and explore the places, people, and stories that make this region so special. Discover the fascinating lives Henry David Thoreau lived after leaving Walden Pond and encounter a possible Hawthorne family curse, a forgotten Yankee hero, and Ruth Robinson Wheeler. And of course, concerts, exhibitions, festivals, walks, talks, and family activities await you throughout the season. The Enduring Legacy of Community

Over the past two years, I have collaborated with communities, museums, historical organizations, and heritage sites to plan commemorative events that illuminate the narrative of the American Revolution. Through this historical programming, I have consistently observed a significant trend: the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution has substantially renewed interest in the contributions of local communities to the American pursuit of independence. This commemoration demonstrates that the Revolution was not defined solely by major battles. Instead, the movement progressed incrementally through the collective actions of towns, families, and individual citizens.
